Known as “the Old Chinese Restaurant”, this vacant eye sore of a building was in dire need of a remodel. This project converted a restaurant building into a mixed use commercial/residential building. Two outdoor recreational businesses took over the lower floor of the building and three apartments were added on a new upper floor. The front of the building was opened up to the street to create a better connection between inside and outside and to provide better daylighting to promote commercial activity.. The dormers are arranged for maximum visual impact, add to the building’s architectural character, and create additional space in the apartments.
