Excellent solar exposure to the South and wonderful views of Mt Shasta to the East make this site both ideal and challenging. The design of this home needed to take advantage of the passive solar orientation to the South and the views to the East. The walls are constructed with TriDpanels, providing both superior insulation and thermal mass.

The plan was optimized to provide solar exposure to all living spaces while also presenting the view of Mt. Shasta to the Living area and Master Bedroom. The utility spaces provide a buffer to the North. The axis is skewed between due South and slightly north of East, to line of sight to the summit of Mt. Shasta.
