Highland Retail Suites

The tired old Highland Inn was transformed into an exciting gathering space consisting of a restaurant, bar and art gallery. The crumbling and dated façade were updated to reflect the new use of the spaces. Extensive structural modifications were made to turn small motel rooms into larger commercial spaces to create a dynamic gather space in the heart of South Lake Tahoe.

Creating usable commercial spaces from rows of standard motel rooms required a great deal of demolition work. Most interior walls and floors were removed and rebuilt as necessary. A mix of one story and two story spaces helps to tie the lower and upper levels of the building together and create dynamic spaces.
